CountMyYeast is currently early-access service that counts yeast cells via hemocytometer images. This page explains the information the service collects, why, and who can see it.
What we collect
- Your email address, and your name and brewery if you give them to us.
- The microscope images you capture or upload.
- Count results, and the details you enter with a count (strain, dilution, notes).
- Email addresses your brewery saves to receive results, and a record of results emails sent.
How we use it
- To sign you in and run your counts.
- To improve the counting algorithm. Uploaded images may be used to train and test our models, and a small number may be shown to trusted reviewers who check the model's accuracy.
- To contact you about your account and the service.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. We use sign-in cookies only; there is no advertising or tracking cookie.
Who can see it
- You can see your own counts and images.
- Members of your brewery can see your name, email, and results emails sent from your brewery.
- The CountMyYeast administrator can see all accounts and counts in order to run and support the service.
Service providers
We use Supabase (sign-in, database and image storage), Vercel (website hosting), Modal (image processing) and Resend (sending email). They process data on our behalf to run the service.
